Held on April 23, 2002 Location: Princeton University, Frist Center, Princeton, New Jersey
Participants learned how GIS can visualize and convey important information to citizens and municipal officials, motivating them to take action to protect their watersheds.
Joel Coyne, West Amwell Environmental Commission member, took participants on a "Watershed Tour" - a philosophy of why watersheds are important, using GIS as a medium. The Tour provides the audience with an example of the capabilities of GIS as a tool and how it can encourage citizens and municipalities to become involved in watershed management.
Dr. Andrew Rowan and Doug Schleifer led a discussion on the how and why of using different GIS techniques, interpreting GIS maps, and successful GIS projects they developed.
